Core Counseling is located in Lakeview and is easily accessible via public transportation and car. When you arrive at 2835 N. Sheffield Avenue, take the elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor and check in with the receptionist. If the receptionist isn’t available, find a seat in the lobby and I will come out to greet you at the time of your appointment.
The building is locked after 6pm and on the weekends. If your appointment is scheduled when the building is locked, you will receive an access code in your appointment confirmation email. Using the call box, dial the access code and I will buzz you into the building. Please find a seat in the lobby on the 2nd floor and I will come out to meet you.
During your initial visit, we will spend the first bit of time reviewing the intake paperwork and answering any questions you may have. Once we’re done with the business side of things, we’ll spend the bulk of your initial appointment talking about what brought you into therapy. I have questions that I ask all new clients; we may or may not get through all of them in that first appointment, and that’s okay. At the end of your first session, I’ll ask what you hope to get out of coming to therapy which will help formulate treatment goals for our work together, and I’ll make treatment recommendations.
Core Counseling aims to cultivate a warm, empathetic, and supportive yet challenging environment. I think it’s important to find a good fit for your therapist. If, for some reason, you don’t feel Core Counseling is a good fit, I will do my best to support you in finding someone who better meets your needs.
